Aware of his extensive travel and compromised health, Sen. Rand Paul quietly got himself tested for the novel coronavirus on March 16.
But for the six days that his results were pending, the Kentucky Republican took no steps to self-quarantine — continuing to cast votes on the Senate floor, delivering a speech lambasting a coronavirus aid bill, and meeting with other GOP senators in strategy sessions that defied federal advisories warning against gatherings of more than 10 people.
Paul even squeezed in a round of golf at a private club on an unseasonably warm spring day in Northern Virginia late last week and worked out Sunday in the senators-only gym at the Capitol Hill complex just hours before he was informed that he had indeed tested positive for covid-19, the disease the virus causes.

Also a reminder, this man is a doctor, he really should have known better. If he was worried enough to get tested when test are still in short supply, he should have been worried enough to isolate himself until he got the test result.

I hope he shook Trump’s hands a few time before he got the results

“Paul even squeezed in a round of golf at a private club on an unseasonably warm spring day in Northern Virginia late last week”
Wasn't Virginia the last state to have a confirmed case of Covid-19? Maybe he's Patient Zero for the state?

Remember when he got his ass beat by his neighbor? He definitely deserved it.

I’m definitely on
Team Rand Paul’s Neighbor
on this one.

I don’t know about that, but Northern VA is bad enough that the governor just closed schools until fall semester.

West Virginia was last. And mostly because they weren’t testing.

Knowing the age of most politicians that might have been intentional. Promotion by plauge.

That’s what caused his “compromised health.” The attack damaged one of his lungs. Not like he has asthma or emphysema or something.

I can't think of a group that I would enjoy see getting sick more.

I was thinking I wouldn’t wish COVID-19 on anyone but now I’m revising my stance on this issue.

Can we talk about your shit bird Lt. Governor too?

Typically one would self-quarantine if one was taking the test due to a specific, known exposure event, rather than “I’m taking the test because I’m missing part of a lung, just in case” - which is part of protocol. Specific risk *to*, not *from* - n ot like taking the test itself confers The Corona. Still, it would have been wiser for him to limit exposure coming and going before now (if not full quarantine) due to said risks *to himself* rather than risks *from* him.

Oh my god, that guy is such an insufferable prick. The thought of him one day becoming governor terrifies me.

Its a new twist on my stance too.

Nah, I'm good. If a bunch of congressmen get sick, I won't exactly feel bad for them though.

He was at a party where multiple infected people were known to have been (go social distancing!), which is why he wanted the test.

Nope. Not willing to go there.

Unfortunately, this is typical behavior for the average American worker. “I only feel a little sick so I’ll keep doing what I normally do.”
![]() 03/24/2020 at 11:05 |

Typical, but necessary. There are a lot of people who can’t pay rent if they miss work.

I’m guessing most Senators are currently living in their homes purchased by their LLCs out of Delaware.
Little tip for anyone looking.
